Tennis Court

We are really fortunate in Lissenden Gardens to have our own tennis court. It sits at the centre of the estate and is for the exclusive use of estate residents. The court has always been a key focal point for the community, both visibly and physically.

The court is owned by Camden Council. The LGTA is responsible for managing its use.  As it is in the middle of a residential area and the noise is easily overheard, by residents of Clevedon Mansions in particular, we ask that you respect the following code of conduct when using it:

1.  The court is for use of residents of Lissenden Gardens and their guests

2.  Football, basketball, netball, skating, skate boarding and cycling are not allowed on the court (this rule has been established by the Tenants’ Association to avoid damage to the net, which we cannot afford to replace)

3.  Please only book for one hour per flat per day

4.  Please keep noise down and do not shout or play music

5.  Please do not use the court before 9am at weekends

6.  Adults must take responsibility for ensuring that children follow these rules

The tennis court has not been upgraded for many years and is in dire need of some tlc.  Various income strands have already been investigated without success, such as Sports England, The Mayor's fund, Camden Council.  The proximity of our court to the public courts on the heath is often used as a key reason to deny funding.

Any additional suggestions to raise funds to repair the court would be welcome.  It is such a huge asset to our community, it would be great to be able to restore it, to ensure its use for current and future residents for years to come.

HOW TO BOOK

You need a padlock key for the gate to access the tennis court. Please contact Juliet Young by email to arrange this. If you move away from the estate or no longer need access you can return the key and your money will be refunded.

The booking sheet is on the court. Please only book one hour per flat per day to allow everyone the opportunity to use the facility. Help is appreciated with keeping the court tidy (picking up leaves etc) - please respect the space and leave the court as you would wish to find it.
