Household

Lissenden Gardens Estate is run by Camden Council for matters regarding tenancy and freehold issues. It is becoming increasingly difficult to make human contact with the council, and most services are mainly accessed online. To do this successfully, Camden requests everyone to sign up to an online account, called the Camden Resident Account. To contact the council by phone there is a single switchboard number - 020 7974 4444, so it helps to know which department you need.

There is also a Neighbourhood Housing Team, and (at time of writing) our Neighbourhood Housing Officer is Mark Harrison - 020 7974 5008.

For Camden tenants, you can find additional information here, in the Council Tenants section of the Housing pages on Camden Council’s website.

For leaseholders or private tenants of leaseholders, you can find additional information here in the Leaseholder section of the Housing pages on Camden Council’s website.

Key Cutting

For security purposes the only way to get an additional main door key is to order one through the council. Call the council switchboard (020 7974 4444) and ask to be put through to Key Cutting services. More info about opening hours and fees can be found here.

Household repairs

The services differ depending on whether you are a council tenant or private renter / leaseholder. If you are a council tenant, Camden prefer repairs to be reported online, here https://www.camden.gov.uk/housing-repairs. However the website doesn’t always work so if you have no luck, or get stuck in a loop, we suggest your persevere by phone to the main switchboard (020 7974 4444) and ask to be put through to Housing Repairs.

If you are a leaseholder, all internal repairs are your responsibility. You can only report structural / common parts repairs to Camden Council. For more information go to the Leaseholders section of the Camden Council website Repairs page.

Please note, in times of extreme weather conditions, such as heavy downpours resulting in flooding, the phone line will only be available for emergency repairs. The council insists that all other repairs can be reported via the Camden Account. The good news is that when a visit is booked, they are usually pretty good at sorting things out.

Electric Meters

For many of us, our electric meters are in communal areas. Camden Council keep the meter cupboards locked, which makes meter reading slightly tricky. The estate caretakers have keys for emergency purposes, but if you need your meter read you can email meterreading@camden.gov.uk or call Camden (020 7974 4444, option 3, then option 5) and book a reading.

It is possible to have a smart meter installed but you must contact the council to arrange access. Their efficiency may differ depending on the distance of the meter to your flat. It is probably worth alerting your supplier to the location of your meter, and questioning it’s likely performance before you book an appointment.

Noise

Living in a flat brings us all an instant community, but that means we need to be extra-aware of the impact of how we live on our neighbours. If you need to report a noise problem, Camden Council advise speaking to those making it, in the first instance. However, that’s not always easy or safe. There are quite a few pages on the Camden Council website regarding noise issues, you can find them here. Please note, to report a problem you will need to have a Camden Resident Account. If the noise is significant and there may be a chance of danger, please call the police.

Antisocial Behaviour

Camden has a ‘Responsive Security Patrol’ that you can report antisocial behaviour to between 4pm and 4am. Call the council switchboard (020 7974 4444) and ask to be put through to the RSP.

If the problem is happening during the daytime, you should call the switchboard (020 7974 4444) and ask for the Ward Housing Team.

Domestic Violence

While it is of course hoped that this will never be relevant, it is very important to know and understand what services and support are available, if necessary. In an emergency, call the Police on 999. If you are looking for longer-term support or a concerned neighbour needing guidance, Camden Council have a comprehensive page of links and info on their website https://www.camden.gov.uk/domestic-abuse-and-violence-support. There is also a lot of information in the local library at Kentish Town, just past the tube station. Please don’t stay silent, there are people who can help.
