PEST CONTROL

As with everything in life, Lissenden Gardens has its issues.

One that is high on the list of residents complaints is the problem of uninvited guests such as mice and wasps. Contact Camden Council pest control if you have problems with either of these. If mice are the problem it would be helpful if you could let your staircase rep know too. The council can deal with the whole block in one go if the reps are aware that a number of flats in a specific staircase has an infestation.

You can also email the LGTA for advice, as they have been in contact with the council in the past regarding pest control.

Other regular visitors who can be unwelcome are pigeons, ants and seagulls. None of these come under the current remit of the council so if you have any tips to deter them it would be great to share them here.

For example, some neighbours keep water pistols to hand to deter pigeons, others tie shiny, mobile objects to their balconies. There are a number of stone owls standing guard on balconies too. Ant powder is pretty effective at stopping ants crossing the threshold but can be dangerous to pets so read the instructions very carefully first.

It goes without saying that a very basic way to deter any of the above is to avoid leaving them anything to eat. However if you’re fond of feeding the other birds that might not be so easy either. If you have any tried and tested methods to keep your balcony pest free please send an email. We take no responsibility for the effectiveness of any of the remedies offered but are certainly willing to give them a go.
