Inspired by the selfless work of the NHS workers during the COVID-19 crisis, the neighbours of Lissenden Gardens teamed up with local street artists Janey and Ben to thank passing NHS workers en route to the Royal Free Hospital. The artists have given their time for free to paint the shutters at Kwik Fit. The neighbours have chipped in for the materials and set up this campaign., and Kwik Fit kindly donated the ‘canvas’.

THE ARTISTS

Janey www.pixie.london Lives on Lissenden Gardens and made an early start with rainbows, bears, Deliveroo lion, teacher owl and NHS monkey to lift our spirits, and use up paint from a commission cancelled due to COVID-19.

Ben www.instagram.com/normallyben joined the party with a direct THANKS to the key workers.

TLP volunteer and Lissenden neighbour Guy attempted to paint the toilet paper banner, but was better at making coffee, cheese sandwiches and setting up the campaign!

The Camden New Journal has also picked up the story,, you can read it here on their website.

The artwork includes a link to a fundraising page for The Listening Place (TLP) to provide emotional support to NHS workers traumatised by COVID-19 and the wider population experiencing suicidal feelings. Can you help with a donation?

THE APPEAL

TLP will support over 2000 suicidal people in the coming months and we will now be offering emotional support to over 300 NHS and frontline Care Workers a week during the crisis.  Any donation you can make, however small, will make a difference: The Listening Place - Just Giving.

THE LISTENING PLACE (TLP)

The world can feel like a very lonely place if you are feeling that life is no longer worth living: not only is it difficult to share those feelings but it can be hard to get the care and support that will make a difference. The Listening Place offers a warm and welcoming environment; somewhere that individuals can talk openly about their feelings without being judged or being given advice.

The Listening Place will continue to support suicidal individuals over the telephone throughout the Covid-19 crisis. A donation will ensure that suicidal individuals continue to receive ongoing, free and confidential support throughout the pandemic. It costs £250 to support someone for five months, which is the average time it takes for TLP to significantly reduce an individual's suicide risk.
